Evaluation Q3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Media institutions that might distribute my media text…

Two big media institutions I think would distribute my crime/gangster film are Warner Bros. Picturesand Universal as they have made a lot of high grossing crime or sub genre crime films such asScarface & Batman: The Dark Knight.

If I were to pick an institution to go with it would probably be Warner Bros. Pictures as they have distributed many successful crime films including Goodfellas & the Oceans trilogy (11, 12 & 13)these 2 films were hugely successful in cinemas and had worldwide appeal to the niche audience of crime/gangster films.

Production and distribution of my media text…

For my film to get big companies interested I will need a production company to put upmoney for my media text. Some include New Line Cinema, Paramount Pictures & Lions Gate Entertainment.
I think these companies would be interested, but mainly New Line Cinema as many of their films have been crime films. New Line Cinema were also involved in distributing Batman: The Dark Knight; is a superhero movie with the sub genre and main theme of crime, making these 2 institutions perfect for distributing my film.

Cinema's that might exhibit the film would be big national/regional cinema's like The Vue and The Odeon. This is because it is most likely to be put up by a big media production company which are associated with other big blockbuster films therefore making it clear that the countries bigger cinema's will take it on first, then move to smaller venues and then finally to local cinema's.

As my media text is a certificate 15 there were obviously rules and regulation i had to stick to in order for it to be appropriate for the audience. Some of the regulations included were to do with; drugs, violence, language, sex/nudity and theme.
As i included violence in my media text, the BBFC guidelines specifically said not to dwell on the infliction of pain or injury, which i successfully did in my media product as after the fight is over we only see the characters legs on the floor as the main protagonist walks away triumphant.
Another guideline i had to stick to was language, where the guideline was  aggressive or repeated use of the strongest language would be unacceptable, i stick to this very well as in my media text there is only one use of the word 'shit' making it perfectly acceptable and the rest of the dialogue doesn't use any bad language.
For the rest of the guidelines we didn't use any drugs, sex/nudity, and the theme that runs throughout is revenge relating back to the violence as it is clear it will be used again later on in the media text.
